Fishing
This text, published in the 1950s in the brochure “Fishing in Graubunden” still holds true today:
"Graubunden has long been renowned for its wealth of lakes, rivers and mountain streams, which provide rich fishing. Everywhere, at most varied altitudes in this multifaceted mountain area, large and small streams and tranquil lakes promise the best catches. With incomparable generosity, Mother Nature bestowed on Graubunden a widespread web of water, which collects from countless, wild mountain streams and small, babbling brooks to become rushing rivers. The opportunities for fishing in this Alpine wonderland may without any exaggeration be called inexhaustible: concealed, charming river banks, quiet coves on enchanting mountain lakes, rivulets meandering playfully through meadows and forests, and rivers rushing noisily down to the valley. They all inspire and delight the relaxed angler.”
St. Moritz, the Engadin, in fact the whole of Graubunden is a veritable angler’s paradise. A fishing region unique in Europe lies at your feet. Whether in one of the 460 Graubunden mountain lakes or along the banks of the St. Moritz lake: mountain trout, grayling, char and many species of fish frolic in our waters. The Upper Engadin fishing season starts at the beginning of May and ends in mid-September. Fishing licenses for a day or a week are available at attractive rates.
