Swimming Lakes

The Upper Engadin lake landscape is a unique phenomenon. The wide valley basin has a string of wonderful lakes, each with its own individual character. Pleasant water temperatures make several of the smaller lakes perfect for bathing. Each has a special atmosphere, history and location to offer.

Three lakes all perfect for a refreshing dip on a warm summer’s day in the Engadin.

Lej da Staz / Stazer Lake
The Lej da Staz or Stazer is in a spacious, open clearing in the extensive Stazer Forest between St. Moritz and Pontresina. The moorland meadows bordering on two sides, reed beds and floating islands of marsh trefoil award the lake its individual charm and create a very special ambiance.
 
Lej Nair
Some 200 metres below the Hahnensee lake, the Lej Nair reflects the Piz Corvatsch massif towering above the larch and pine trees on the lake shore. If you have a little time, you’re certain to spot the acrobatic jump of a fish. The Lej Nair can only be reached along a footpath and only a few are prepared to carry their bathing gear up here.

Lej Marsch
A little below the Lej Nair lies Lej Marsch, one of the region’s most popular bathing lakes. On sunny summer days, the sheltered position on the forest edge, small beach on the northern shore, inviting picnic spots and especially the proximity to the Olympic ski jump car park, make it a magnet for water rats and sun worshippers.
