It’s impossible to imagine an Engadin winter without the St. Moritz Gourmet Festival. Top chefs from all over the world encourage young talent and stars in the tradition-rich kitchen brigades of the St. Moritz "world village", kindle their culinary art in friendly exchange and promote quality and creativity in the leading gastronomic region in the Alps. Each year the event focuses on a specific theme.

Fifty years after the last cheese left Alp Nuova, the Pontresina Alpine Dairy is again making cheese in traditional fashion on this idyllic alp. You can follow the old cheese-making methods in the Morteratsch Alpine Dairy and then enjoy the tasty product at a brunch. The Alpine brunch is available daily between 09:30 and 11:30 hrs from July to September, including a lavish cheese buffet, fresh smoked Ziger (soft herb cheese), yoghurt, alp butter, honey, jam, fruit, assorted breads, orange juice, smoked alp salsiz (air-dried sausage), coffee, tea, milk and much more. Brunch reservations are required by the latest 17:00 hrs on the evening beforehand.

The world’s largest whisky bar – according to the Guinness Book of Records – with an adjacent smokers’ lounge, is found in the Hotel Waldhaus am See in St. Moritz. Over the years, ardent whisky collector, Claudio Bernasconi, has amassed over 2,500 bottles of exceptional whiskies. Open all year.

At the top station of the Corviglia Funicular Railway at 2,486 m altitude, you’ll find the ultimate “in” locale: the highly popular Reto Mathis’ Food Affairs with its outstanding caviar specialities. Here you can hike to suit your taste buds as the Via Gastronomica offers you "courses" in a variety of lengths: the shortest path takes 1.5 hrs from the Furtschellas top station via Marmoré down to sleepy Fextal where a delicious main course awaits in Hotel Fex.
