Palm Express

Packed with superlatives, the postbus journey leads from St. Moritz past Upper Engadin lakes and over the Maloja Pass into rugged and romantic Bergell. Tranquil chestnut groves, artistic houses, craggy cliff faces and bizarre mountain peaks lend the Graubunden southern valley a singularly special charm.

The Palm Express crosses the national border into Northern Italy at Castasegna and soon reaches the small town of Chiavenna, where the Maloja and Splügen routes converge. The journey along the shores of Lake Como to Menaggio is particularly scenic. In Porlezza you reach Lake Lugano and shortly afterwards re-enter Switzerland at Gandria. The journey, so rich in contrasts, ends in the Ticino business metropolis of Lugano.
