Corviglia opens for the Winter Season
With good snow conditions, the first of the Corviglia lifts and ski pistes will open for the ski and snowboard season on schedule on Saturday, 23rd November 2013. The Celerina-Marguns Gondola will carry guests to St. Moritz's home mountain starting at 7.45am. A week later the funicular from St. Moritz will commence operation.
The Celerina-Marguns Gondela will transfer guests to and from the snowsports area from 7.45am until 4.30pm. The catering establishments Marcho Allegra, Sternbar, Bar Finale and the Pizzeria Chadafö will also be open, the latter greeting guests with a new look!
A major opening of Corviglia will take place one week later with a ski test scheduled for 30th November and 1st December.
On Saturday 30th November the St. Moritz-Chantarella-Corviglia Funicular and the St. Moritz Bad-Signal Cablecar will open. On the same day, Restaurant Stüvetta, the Skihütte Glünetta, and the Snowli Children's Restaurant in Celerina will open. Throughout the day snowsport fans can test the latest model skis and snowboards at Marguns. The first "Schlager Day" (German flower-power hits from the past), will also be held at the Sternbar at Marguns, with this becoming a feature every second Saturday throughout the season (in fine weather).
Piz Nair opens 14th December, Diavolezza closes until 20th December.
The balance of the lifts on Corviglia will commence operation during December: the Suvretta-Randolins Chairlift on 7th December, and the Corviglia-Piz Nair Cablecar on 14th December. Coinciding with the opening of St. Moritz's home mountain is the temporary closure of the Diavolezza Cablecar (for annual revision and control) from 23rd November until 20th December. During this time the Berghaus Diavolezza restaurant and hotel at the mountain top station will also be closed.
