New Pictures on the Quadrellas Parking Garage present the St. Moritz Winter Sport Tradition
For a few days now, 20 "large format" images have adorned the facade of the Quadrellas parking garage in St. Moritz Dorf. The images show subjects from the two Olympic Winter Games, and the World Ski Championships which have been held in St. Moritz. The poster display is an initiative of the St. Moritz Tourist Association, whose operations are to be incorporated into the St. Moritz Council from 1st January 2014.
"The fact that St. Moritz has hosted two Winter Olympic Games is barely visible in the village", states Richard Dillier, President of the St. Moritz Tourist Organization. In fact: The historic winter sports heritage of St. Moritz enjoys little visibility. That is why the Tourist Office of St. Moritz jumped at the opportunity to embellish the facade of the Quadrellas parking garage with historic pictures from previous Olympic Winter Games and the FIS World Ski Championships held in St. Moritz. Richard Dillier: "The parking garage is in the heart of the village and the facade is already there and available - consequently the idea to use it to present the images." The poster decoration of the facade is not yet complete - at the end of December, two large format posters will be added, one of St Moritz as an "Olympic Host City", and the other as the host and presenter of the Ski World Championships 2017.
Tourist Organisation becomes a part of the Council
From the beginning of January, the operational activities and employees of the oldest (1864), and probably the most famous tourist organization in Switzerland, will be transferred to the Municipality of St. Moritz who will be then responsible for the tourist activities of the area. The Tourist Organization will remain the owner of the brand "St. Moritz", and will be used as a "think tank" and the voice of tourism service providers, as well as a supporter of innovative projects within St. Moritz.
