Figure skating – a St. Moritz tradition

Figure skating in St. Moritz is a century-old tradition. Ice-skating instructors with famous names give lessons on almost 20 rinks. Ice-skating events have also frequently been held, with the quality of costumes and presentation as high as the technical skill and acrobatics of participants. Ice hockey is naturally also on the programme as well as its precursor, bandy, played with a stick that is bent downwards. The ice rinks of the Kulm Hotel, Suvretta House, Palace Hotel and the former Hotel Chantarella were among the first in St. Moritz.
