Corviglia/Piz Nair
Here trends are set, World Cup races won, and both chic food and rustic snacks are served. Ski pistes of World Cup quality extend as far as sunny Celerina, and the mix of the St. Moritz resort, its cosmopolitan population and the near endless possibilities for making tracks has transformed this ski area into one of the most famous in the world. Towering over it all, at 3,097 m (10,161 ft) above sea level, is the Piz Nair, from where you can take in the stunning view of the entire Engadin Valley and the ski-carved slopes spread out beneath you.
Early risers swear by the "white carpet" – the first descent of the day down a deserted, freshly groomed piste. Already at 7.45 am, the Marguns gondola lift and Chantarella funicular swing into action; by 8.00 am, the other lifts have also commenced operations. And right on time, as the sun slowly rises up over the mountains, you find yourself standing on the Piz Nair, at 3,057 m above sea level. Stretching out in front of you is a spectacular panorama, 100 km of World Cup-quality downhill runs and the Mellow Park snow park, with its 30 obstacles. The sheer endless possibilities offered by the Corviglia have transformed it into one of the most famous snow sport paradises in the world.
