St. Moritz Ice Cricket – Commonwealth Glamour in the Engadine

On February 8 and 9, 2018 there will be a new first-class event in St. Moritz: «St. Moritz Ice Cricket» will attract the international cricket stars. These matches will be transmitted live on Indian TV among other stations.

«Cricket on Ice» has been played in St. Moritz for more than 30 years. In February 2018 «St. Moritz Ice Cricket» will bring another event with Commonwealth atmosphere to the Engadine. It is not just another amateur tournament: this time the Lake of St. Moritz will host international cricket stars. While not a very big attraction in these latitudes, cricket is the second most popular sport in the world after football. It is enormously popular above all in the British Commonwealth, where cricket stars enjoy the same status as for example Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi do with us. Although test matches last several days, the latest Twenty20 format takes only three hours and often ends in a Hitchcock-like spectacle. Two Twenty20 cricket matches will be held on the Lake of St. Moritz during February 8 and 9 next year.

Cricket fans worldwide are already excited about this event, above all in India. This is mainly of course due to Virender Sehwag, who will be present to bring some Indian glamour here in St. Moritz. So it is hardly surprising that these matches will be transmitted live on Indian television. At www.icecricket.ch you can find the latest information on this outstanding event.
