WinterRAID 2017 – not for Sunday drivers

St. Moritz is the Start and Finish of the WinterRAID 2017. Classic cars from a number of countries will start on 18th January 2017, and return to the alpine city three days later. In the meantime they will travel some 1'000 km in winter conditions.

This year's edition of the WinterRAID - the largest winter rally in Switzerland - starts on the 18th January from the heart of St. Moritz. On the first afternoon, there are several trials, points from which count towards the award of the "White Star of St. Moritz". This prize, awarded by the town of St. Moritz, goes to the team which scores the least number of demerit points of all participants in the time and navigation trials conducted in the Engadine. On the same evening, the cars drive to Arosa - where there is a snow and ice course to complete in the middle of the village.

On Thursday, 19th January, the  WinterRAID goes from Arosa through Lichtenstein, the Voralberg and the Bregenzerwald over passes and small village streets to Seefeld in the Tyrol region where they will overnight. On the next day, the German alpine roads, the Bavarian Alps, Bavaria with its lakes just outside Munich, and a return to Seefeld are on the agenda. On Saturday, 21st January, mountain passes, ice and snow await the participants as they make their return on the last great stage of the rally from Seefeld back to St. Moritz. Their arrival at the Kempinski Grand Hotel des Bains in St. Moritz Bad is expected between 4.00 - 5.00pm. In total, the teams will put about 1,000 km behind them in winter conditions.
