Ice skating tradition

St. Moritz has a proud tradition of figure skating that dates back over 100 years. Even back then, renowned skating instructors worked their magic on almost twenty ice rinks. The town often held skating festivals of the highest order, with fabulous facilities and technically skilled participants in lavish costumes. Of course ice hockey was also popular, as was its predecessor bandy. Among St. Moritz’s first ice skating rinks were those of the Kulm Hotel, Suvretta House, Palace Hotel and the former Hotel Chantarella.
