Other activities & excursions in Engadin St. Moritz

From A to Z

Fat bikes

Roll through Engadin’s snowy fairytale landscape on a fat bike: a mountain bike with oversized tyres. The increased tread makes it easy to ride on snow. It’s an interesting training option for athletes and summer cyclists and a unique experience for nature-lovers and holidaymakers. In winter, BIKE SCHOOL ENGADIN offers regular guided fat bike tours including fat bike rental – group bookings are also available. Engadin Bikes in St. Moritz Bad also rents out fat bikes by the hour.

Tandem paragliding and hang gliding

Experience a different kind of Alpine descent. In good weather you can paraglide or hang glide directly from Corviglia, St. Moritz’s local mountain, every hour between 10 am and 4 pm. After a gentle landing on the frozen Lake St. Moritz, you will be brought back to the ski area or your accommodation. On request the pilot can record your flight with photos or a video.

Horse-drawn carriage rides

You’ve secretly always wanted to do it: a romantic ride in a horse-drawn carriage across Lake St. Moritz, or further out to Lake Stazer. Snuggled among blankets and furs is the perfect way to soak up the stunning Engadin scenery. Other classic destinations include the neighbouring valleys Val Roseg and Val Fex. The pick-up point is at St. Moritz Bad near the lake, next to the Catholic church. Or you can order a carriage direct to your door. Contact details:

Guided snowshoeing

Through forests blanketed in freshly fallen snow, to idyllic lookouts and across frozen lakes – St. Moritz has plenty of snowshoe trails for escaping the hustle and bustle. Guided tours can be booked directly from the tourist information centres. Choose between short or long walks, or a two-hour beginner’s tour. Tip: Take a snowshoeing tour at night in the light of a full moon.

Snowkiting

Gone are the days when snowkiting appealed to just a handful of thrill-seeking eccentrics. Now beginners and pros alike enjoy taming the power of the wind and gliding at high speeds across frozen lakes. Snowkiting is possible on Lake Silvaplana between mid-January and mid-March. On the Bernina pass the season starts even earlier, at the beginning of December.

Winter horse riding

The Wohlwend family enjoys sharing their love of riding with like-minded visitors. Pontresina, just a few minutes’ drive from St. Moritz, is a veritable riding paradise for both children and adults. It has just the right steeds for exploring the winter landscape: horses, ponies and donkeys. Pony rides give kids from the age of three their first taste of riding, while grown-ups can hone their technique with guidance from qualified trainers.
